Xpeng G6
Xpeng G6
The Xpeng brand is a fairly new name in the automotive industry, but in the years that they have been a company, they have pushed for the advancement of technology in cars. This differentiating factor can easily be seen as soon as you enter the Xpeng G6. The G6 is a mid-sized SUV, similar in size to the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and Tesla Model Y. Starting at £39,990, the car is very competitively priced when considering the specification. The car I had on test was the Long Range version, which is priced at £44,990 and has a range of 354 miles.
Interior
When getting in, you see a large centre screen, not too dissimilar to a Tesla, grabbing your attention straight away. This screen is how you interact with the car, which is familiar if you have any experience with a Tesla. In addition, there’s a driver’s display that can show you map information, energy statistics, and more. The rest of the interior is very well put together using good-quality materials. A bonus is the cooled seats, which were very pleasant to use on a hot day. The rear seats have the added feature of being able to recline, which would make longer journeys in the back very comfortable indeed.
Driving
The Xpeng G6 has plenty of performance, achieving 0–60 mph in around 6.6 seconds, depending on spec. With the car being rear-wheel drive, there was also plenty of traction. The car is set up to provide a comfortable ride, soaking up most of the broken tarmac smoothly. Hand in hand with this comfort is how quiet the cabin is. I drove through a thunderstorm, and even with the radio off, I couldn’t hear any outside noise. Yet another impressive driving dynamic is the efficiency. Throughout my time with the car, I managed an impressive 5.5 m/kWh. This would mean that a full charge would have taken me over 480 miles. The positives don’t stop there either, as the car also supports rapid charging of up to 280 kW, meaning that stop times are kept to a minimum.
Conclusion
If you can’t tell already, I think that Xpeng has managed to bring a great product to the market. There are many great features that make this stand out in a competitive market. Combining all these great features into a well-priced vehicle makes it easy to recommend. At the very least, it is worth a test drive. Thanks once again to Sandicliffe Nottingham for providing the car to test.
